Natural Tree Drop-Off (Winter)
TCHOA residents can drop off natural Christmas trees from Dec 25 – Jan 31 at seven free City sites around town, including Northwestway Park just right across the street from the Brookstone entrance. Remove all lights, ornaments, stands, and tinsel before drop-off. Trees collected at these locations are recycled into mulch for reuse through the City’s “tree-cycling” program. Dropping off trees outside approved locations is illegal dumping and may result in fines up to $3,000. This service is for Marion County residents only, not businesses.
Please check the City’s official list carefully as included parks can change from year-to-year.

Hazardous Waste Drop Off
You are encouraged to compost yard waste and food scraps at home to reduce landfill use. The City’s Home Composting Guide explains how to combine greens and browns, maintain moisture, and use finished compost for gardens or landscaping. Composting helps keep leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen waste out of trash carts and complements the City’s seasonal leaf collection program.

Yard Waste & Composting
Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste — such as paint, fluorescent bulbs, automotive fluids, oil, cleaners, pesticides, and batteries — through the City’s official drop-off sites. These facilities ensure safe, eco-friendly disposal and prevent contamination of landfills and stormwater systems. Never place hazardous materials in your trash or recycling carts. As of 2011, Indiana’s Electronic Waste law prohibits households, small businesses, and schools from disposing of electronic waste in the trash.
- Brush and yard trimmings cannot go in the trash cart.
- Compost at home or use a local yard-waste facility.
